Bay County, FL -- Millions of dollars could be coming to the Panhandle for local projects, as lawmakers submit their requests for the upcoming state budget.

State representatives had to submit their requests by January 4.

The biggest request for our area is $39 million to widen Highway 390 in Bay County. The request is sponsored by Representatives Marti Coley and Jimmy Patronis. The county says the money would be used to widen a four mile stretch of the road through Lynn Haven and add bike lanes and emergency shoulders.

Other big projects from our area include a request for almost $20 million for improvements to Wewahitchka's wastewater system, an almost $15 million request for the Grand Lagoon Bridge replacement in Bay County, $14 million dollars for a new Jackson County Health Department building, and $12 million for a Jackson County administration complex to consolidate county offices.

These are just requests for funding. We won't know if these will get approved until the spring when the legislature meets.
